Tully Center for Free Speech

The Tully Center for Free Speech promotes and supports free speech through research, education and a series of events, including the annual Tully Award for Free Speech.

The Tully Center regularly invites speakers, including winners of the Tully Award, to the Newhouse School to discuss issues affecting freedom of speech and of the press. Past speakers include media tech pioneer Chet Kanojia (pictured above), author Daniel Ellsberg, Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman, former Washington Post editor Harry Rosenfeld ’52, former editor-in-chief of the Guardian Alan Rusbridger and Supreme Court reporter Dahlia Lithwick.
